5 Eyeshadow Hacks

Not a makeup wearer exists that can’t talk about the battle between their eye shadow and their eyelids. The look you get won’t match your ideal. The over the top looking eye; glops & plops and uneven tone; dark spots. The list goes on. Have no fear the shadow repair team is here. In every issue, there’s a hack:

1. Creasing, fading, and smearing
We hate to liken your face to an unpainted wall but it’s a great analogy. You wouldn’t paint a wall without priming it. You should do the same with your eyes and makeup for the same reasons. A high-quality eye primer will ensure a solid, smooth base for your eye shadow, glimmer shadow, liquid eyeshadow or classic powder. This prevents creasing, fading and smearing.

2. Shadow blending with the right brushes
You’ve heard the term “tools of the trade”. Makeup application is no different. If you use high-quality blending and shading brushes along with practice, you’ll eliminate this eyeshadow challenge. It’s that simple. There’s a plethora of effective eye shadow application tutorials. Invest time in your look and you won’t be disappointed.

3. Lack of pop
If your powder shadow, liquid eyeshadow or glimmer shadow lacks luster and shine here’s a couple of quick hacks. Take a dab from a glimmer stick shimmering eye shadow pencil and wand across the lid over the shadow. This will get the shadow to pop. Do the same with liquid or cream shadow and create a duo tone effect.

4. Using shadow to create depth
This is as simple as experimentation. You know, there’s no right or wrong ways to layer a lid. There are only techniques. And since you’re a unique person, you can confidently explore. Start by using a muted warm tint on the crease and layer out from there. Then, use a high-quality blending brush to blend in the color. Add more and blend more or less as you wish until you reach the desired depth you want.

5. Removing eye shadow
This is not hard. Eye shadow remover is oil based. The technique is the same one used to remove nail polish. The only difference is you’re using safe makeup remover. Hold the applicator pad on the closed lid for 30 seconds to one minute. Maybe more time is needed if the shadow is particularly heavy and thick. Then, gently swipe the shadow. This may have to be repeated several times in some cases. What happens is that the remover settles into the makeup and starts to break it down. It needs time to do that.

These hacks are the best 5 to keep your eye shadow looking on fleek. However, experimentation is the key to keeping your lids the way that’s good for you. Keep in mind that you are as unique as a fingerprint and so are your beautiful features. The main point to remember is to have high-quality tools of the trade and you’ll never go wrong.
